School Direct Teacher Training

As a school we have a commitment to support School Direct students and are experienced at supporting students training to be teachers. We have offered School Direct for a number of years, this is a programme that supports teachers to train within a school environment.

From 2021-2022 we are working in partnership with Teach Kent and Sussex to do this.

Teach Kent and Sussex are an outstanding provider. If you are interested in training to teach as a School Direct student at our school, then please see their website and click the link below. Applications should be made directly to Teach Kent and Sussex.

Commitment to School Direct Teacher Training

In July 2017 we were graded as a LEADING PARTNERSHIP SETTING with Canterbury ChristChurch University.

We have a successful record in training new teachers to the profession and retaining successful teachers.

During the year 2015/2016 we mentored two School Direct students through this process, Miss Tustin and Mrs Terry. Both of them have achieved highly and have now completed their training. Miss Tustin successfully completed her NQT year at Kings Hill School in Year 3 and is now our specialist Art and Music teacher.

During 2016/2017 Miss Hannah Jordan was our School Direct student teaching in Year 5 Macaws. Miss Jordan achieved an 'outstanding' final assessment in association with the University. Miss Jordan commenced her teaching career at Kings Hill teaching in Year 5 and currently teaches in Year 3. Miss Jordan is also our History Leader and her name now is Mrs Quealy.

In 2017/2018 Miss Helen Paul (School Direct) and Miss Megan Weller (PGCE) completed their teacher training at Kings Hill School. Both Miss Paul and Miss Weller achieved 'outstanding' judgements on their final assessments with Canterbury Christchurch University. Miss Paul and Miss Weller  completed successful NQT years at Kings Hill in 2019. Miss Weller now teaches in Year 4 at Kings Hill School and is our Science Leader.

In 2018/2019 we welcomed  Mrs Vidgen in Year One Meerkats and Miss Valentine in Year Two Seahorses as School Direct students. Both Mrs Vidgen and Miss Valentine have now achieved outstanding judgements at the end of their training. Mrs Vidgen will be starting her teaching career at Snodland C of E Primary and Miss Valentine now teaches in Year 2 at Kings Hill School and is our Computing Leader.
