What do we do?
We raise money by organising fundraising events throughout the year. In recent years our calendar of fundraising activities has included Sponsored Fun Runs, Halloween & Easter Raffles, Christmas Cards, Christmas Fayre, Bags 2 School, Quiz Nights, Family Discos, Summer Fetes, Cake Raffles, Fireworks Nights, and this academic year we are also planning a Circus!
We also help out at school events, such as serving refreshments at open days and school plays, and we run “Presents room” so the children can buy gifts for Christmas, Mothers’ Day & Fathers’ Day.
Where does the money go?
All proceeds go towards the school. In the past 12 months we have funded some school trips, assisted with the cost of the newly installed covered bike racks, and along with a grant from sports funding also helped pay towards the muga (Multi Use Games Area) and running track. Each year we contribute to the year 6 leavers’ party, presents and more!
What will you get out of joining the KHSF?
An opportunity of understanding the school and its targets for our children
Feeling part of the school community
Having fun and making friends
Opportunities to get involved in events with the children which are behind the scenes with our children i.e. fun run and secrets room.
How much time does it take up?
Again this depends on you. We meet once a month as the large committee and as and when events come up we then divide off into sub committees who then meet more often in the run up to those events. If you are not able to attend in person but can participate with behind the scenes activities that is great too. All volunteering time and activities are great contributions which are always welcome to the KHSFs. Most of the current volunteers work and we all support each other in fitting PTA activities around day to day life.
