Junior Book Club

Who Are We?

We are Kings Hill School junior book club. We are a group of year 5 and 6 children who share a passion for reading. We meet with Mrs Patel every week to discuss books within a chosen theme or genre for the term. We each read a different book, and during the session we share our thoughts on: the literary style and the impact it has on the reader; authorial intent and how it is conveyed; and the emotions evoked when reading. Through the books we read and the discussions we have, we are not only expanding our breadth of reading and knowledge of the world, but we are enhancing our oracy skills and importantly, developing empathy.

How We Make A Difference...

We endeavour to encourage a love of reading amongst other pupils within the school through writing reviews of the books that we have enjoyed and making recommendations in the school library magazine.
